Virginia I. Romanko (nee Rolek) of New Providence, N.J., passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday, June 6, 2020, at the age of 86.

Virginia was born in Newark, N.J., to Mary (nee Zeleski) and Victor Rolek. She attended Newark Westside High School and earned her bachelor’s in Education from Montclair State University and her master’s in Library Science/Media Specialist from St. Elizabeth’s College. She met and married her beloved late husband, Joseph Romanko and raised their family in New Providence. Virginia was a Librarian/Media Specialist for Roberts Elementary School in New Providence for 30 years prior to her retirement in 2001. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who adored her family and loved spending time with them at her house in Cape Cod, Mass.
Virginia is survived by her cherished children Monica (Andrew) Cattano and Joseph V. (Caroline) Romanko; her brother Edward Rolek; her adored grandchildren Andrew (Elizabeth), Corey (Stephanie), Kelly (Thom), Joseph W., Michael and Sabrina, and her great-grandchildren Lillian, Grace, Corey Joseph “CJ” and Raegan. She was predeceased by her parents and her husband Joseph Romanko.
