Dr. Owen Calderwood died peacefully at his home in East Orleans on May 4, 2013, at the age of 88. Owen led a rich and full life to the end.

Born in Ridgewood, NJ, he graduated from Ridgewood High School and went on to Guilford College, Princeton University (Class of 1948) and Tufts Dental School where he graduated as a DMD in Oral Surgery. Prior to Princeton, Owen served as a Pharmacist Mate Second Class in the Pacific for two years with the Navy while on the USS Guam during WWII. He also served as a dentist at Parris Island in Beaufort, SC during the Korean War. After his double tour of duty, Dr. Calderwood practiced Oral Surgery for over 30 years in Ridgewood, NJ at the Valley Hospital and with a dental office located in his home.
