Carolyn Granlund
August 22, 1929 – October 19, 2023

Born in Providence, RI to mark B. and Hilda Spink on August 22nd, 1929. Carolyn was a graduate of Pawtucket RI schools and Emerson College in Boston. Her family lived in Greenville, RI and briefly in Washington DC during WW2.

Married to Robert L. Granlund in 11954, they started a family in Hicksville, NY and settled in Holliston, MA. They found a little cottage in East Orleans in 1961 and enjoyed summers in nauset, making it their permanent home in 1973.

Cal served as a Speech Therapist in Franklin, MA schools and in private practice, later opening “Threads and Fibers”, a knitting and yarn shop in the old Peacock Alley store in Orleans. She enjoyed her many friends from her EasthAm swimming group. She was a member of the Federated Church in East Orleans.

She and Bob traveled abroad and toured the U.S. in their camper van. Cal made lasting friendships with Navajo wool workers who she corresponded with over the years.

After Bob passed away in 1995, Carolyn was grateful to have a loving partner in Leroy Webber during the later years of her life. She is survived by her two sons, James (Kimmi) and Jonathan (Linda) Granlund, 4 grandchildren, Jessica, Christian, Isabella, and Spencer Granlund, one great-granddaughter and nieces Gail Spink of Orleans and Jane Millard of North Carolina. She was predeceased by her brother Mark Spink.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests donations to Southwest Reservation Aid or to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America, msaa.org
