Nauset Heights aerial Feb 18, 1990

This image was provided by the Orleans Historical Society, and is an excellent representation of the inlet during the winter of 1990. About a year and a half later, on Oct 31, 1991, the "Perfect Storm" reshaped the inlet forever.

Nauset Heights aerial March 30, 1996
Nauset Heights aerial March 30, 1996

From March 30, 1996. Note the lack of boats in the inlet as it's still early in the season. Many thanks to Col-East Inc. for letting us use this photograph.

Nauset Heights 1964
Nauset Heights 1964

This image is from 1964, and is one of the oldest high resoluion aerial photos we have. Note the position of the "big rock" and end of the Spit in relation to where they are today. Times have changed, but the beauty of Nauset Heights lives on.

These photos were shot on Nov 1, 2012, a few days after hurricane Sandy had ripped through the NY/NJ/PA area. Thankfully, the Cape was spared all but some strong winds. A meter on the Bluff registered a peak of 68 mph, but hardly any rain.
