The Condon family included Joseph and Mary and their grown up children Margaret, Harry, Betty and Ruth.

The family enjoyed the cottage immensely but tragedy struck on July 9th 1951.  Joseph was fishing in a rowboat on the Mill Pond with neighbor Arthur Pinchbeck and another family friend when the boat capsized.  Joseph made it to shore but suffered a heart attack and died.  Mary continued to summer at the cottage along with daughter Margaret who retired from active duty in the US Army in 1961.  In the fall of 1969, while pruning the rose at Mildred Black’s cottage across the street, Mary suffered a stroke and passed away in the spring of 1970.

Margaret, known on the Heights as the ‘Major’, continued to spend the summers at the Cape.  Her doors were always open to family and friends and she passed on her love of the Cape to her nieces, nephews and their families.  Margaret put her energies into gardening, reading, bridge and helping those in need.  In her last

he thoughts of summer at Cape Cod that kept her going in times of ill health.  Sadly, Margaret passed away in February 2006 at the age of 92.

The cottage is owned now by Margaret’s niece and her husband.
